Special roof lantern

In 2007 we received a very unusual request: we had to think up the exterior lighting for a listed building, a thatched farmhouse, and this lighting had to fit in with the architectural style of the farmhouse and its owner's specific wishes.

He wanted a classic wall-mounted fitting installed at the corner of the farmhouse, preferably on an arm.

However, the thatched roof protruded a long way over the outer wall, making it rather low above ground level. As a result, it was difficult to place a wall mounting arm plus light fitting underneath.

Because of the limited height of the wall, we suggested that a wall fitting was still a possibility, but that the fitting should stick through the thatch and end up above the roof.

A sketch and a few drawings yielded a very special result, entirely to our satisfaction - but even more to the owner's satisfaction. The accompanying pictures say it all.
